This award was bagged by KSRTC for successful implementation of the unique project of Ethanol Blending of Diesel in over 21 depots. KSRTC was evaluated and awarded by Mr.P.N. Bhagavathi, Former Chief Justice of India, Chairman, Golden Peacock Award Committee & Member of the United Nations Human Rights Commission. As an alternative to fossil fuels, the Corporation introduced bio-fuels like honge oil (Pongamia Pinnata – Indian Beech). KSRTC is the first transport organisation in Southeast Asia to commercially use ethanol-blended diesel in 2,100 buses.
